Eastern States Exposition - Court of Honor Stage Customers Reviews
Equipment issues and too much new music
I saw Queensryche at Ace of Spades this past Thursday night. I was excited to see them, but I was sadly disappointed for two reasons. First, they had technical issues with Todd's mic. Second, it's my opinion that most fans go to see Queensryche to hear their "older" music.
I got to Sacramento right on time. I entered Ace of Spades about 15-minutes before Queensryche took the stage. The sound guy was doing mic checks and all seemed well. But as soon as Todd took the stage and began singing, I couldn't hear his voice. In fact, I estimate that about the first half of their concert was plagued by mic issues. Todd kept going back and forth backstage and I really could not hear him sing. But eventually, they somehow fixed the mic issue for the last half of the concert. Additionally, the guitars were very "scratchy" sounding as if the guitar speakers were over-amped.
Then, the other issue I have with the concert is the lack of older music. I get it. I get that they want to come out and sell new music. But I think they are going to slowly alienate a good amount of their older audience because that's what I believe most people want to see. I think they should follow groups like Scorpions, where 90% of the music they play at concerts today are dedicated to their core fans from the 80's and 90's. They only play about 10% of their new music and that's fine with me.
In closing, if you want to hear only 3 or 4-older songs and a lot of their new music, then you will like the this concert tour. But if you're like me, and want to listen to mainly their older music, then you too will likely be disappointed. RIP Queensryche. I think this maybe my last show.
